5 out of 5 stars Great Weber Grill   March 2, 2010
S. Thompson (Huntsville, AL USA)
This is a great charcoal grill. My fiance had an older 22.5 silver that was given to her, it did a good job, but the open ash catcher made a mess and was a pain to empty. I love the blue color, worth the extra money to have something a little different from basic black. Shipping was awesome! Ordered on Thursday, grilling on Saturday with free super saver!

5 out of 5 stars Let me Explain   February 27, 2010
Xina143 (Culpeper, VA USA)
We ordered this for the FIRST time on February 5th. My husband was so excited and rushed out to buy charcoal, cleaning brushes, etc. When we got it and he opened the box we discovered one of the handles was bent, and there was a large section that had no protective paint over it, making us fear it would rust prematurely. Needless to say we were disappointed. He boxed it up and I called Amazon, and they were great! They immediately sent us a return packaging slip, and placed a new order (at upgraded two day shipping no less) for us. So, once we got all that straightened out and got the second one (which looked great by the way) we unpacked it and looked forward to making the chicken we had prepared.

My husband put it together and brought it over to me and I must say, the blue looks a heck of a lot cooler than the basic black! This is the upgraded model with the reservoir for ashes, and while I don't do a lot of grilling, my husband really appreciated this aspect of the grill.

It was easy to put together, and Weber has a wonderful reputation when it comes to grill products. The chicken we cooked on it came out wonderfully, though we have had a gas grill for the past few years, so the extra time a charcoal grill takes will take some time to get used to.

All in all well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Mo' Betta Cooker   January 9, 2010
Dempsy Winans (Arlington, TX USA)
What a great cooker! I got mine just before Thanksgiving and used it to cook my 14 lb. Turkey. I was a little concerned about whether I could control the heat/smoke ratio well enough so that the Turkey wasn't dry on the outside, barely cooked on the inside. No problem at all! I took an old 9" x 13" x 2" baking pan that had outlived its usefulness as a baking pan (started rusting) and placed it in the center of the charcoal rack. I put hot coals on the rack on either side of the pan and filled it about 1/2 full of water. With hot coals on each side of the pan, it gave off steam to help keep the bird moist. The water-filled pan created a relatively cool spot above which I could set the Turkey to coo. So, I had smoke, indirect heat and a little steam going on and the bird came out absolutely GORGEOUS. The skin was crispy and mahogany-colored. I am a foodie and have cooked some really tasty Turkeys before, but as my Cajun buddy used to say, "Dis ain't jes mo' betta, dis is a whole LOTTA mo betta!"

I have also used it for direct heat grilling of steaks, lamb, venison and hamburgers and it worked perfectly for all of them. I have fallen in love with this cooker.

Cleanup is SUPER easy and is possibly my favorite part about the Weber Kettle Grill. I have the Gold model and it has an aluminum catch pan and a lever you slide from side-to-side that rakes spent ashes into slots in the bottom of the kettle, which open into this pan. So, with the pan in place, you slide the lever a few times and "poof" all the spent ashes are in this pan, which has a handle, and you can dump the ashes into a trash bag without ever having to get your hands dirty. It also assures that no burning embers might escape the bottom of the grill while cooking. Be sure to let the pan sit for a few hours before dumping the ashes because a few live embers may fall into the pan as they drop through the bottom of the charcoal rack. I empty the ashes BEFORE I start to grill, not after, that way I know for sure there are no live coals that might be dumped into the trash bag.

The air louvers on the bottom of the grill are operated by a lever and work smoothly. The spinning disk on top that opens 4 holes in the lid works smoothly, too, and is tight-fitting enough that it is very effective at starving the coals for oxygen when you are through grilling. I use Royal Oak natural charcoal and it leaves extremely little ash, so I am able to cook several meals on it before I even have to rake the ashes down into the catch pan. The air controls are tight enough that after cooking, I shut the grill down and am able to re-use the leftover charcoal because it was smothered. I use a chimney starter with an electric charcoal lighter to fire up my charcoal so there are never any chemicals added and the flavor is pure wood smoke.

I strongly recommend this product and use it two or three times/week. It still looks like new on the outside, sparkly and blue. It's also starting to get that seasoned coating of smoke/grease/yumminess built up on the inside of the kettle and that will only make food taste beter as the patina ages. Buy one, you won't be sorry.

4 out of 5 stars WEBER 22 1/2"   October 14, 2009
Joanatha Brenner (CA USA)
WEBER MAKES A FANTASTIC PRODUCT. I'VE HAD MANY OVER MY YEARS, BUT THE LARGE ONES SEEM TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE LEGS TO STAY ON. I RECENTLY WORE OUT AN 18" WEBER, HENCE THE PURCHASE OF THIS 22 1/2". ONCE TOGETHER,AND AFTER COALS WERE HOT, I TRIED TO ROLL B-B-Q OVER TO ANOTHER SPOT AND (2) LEGS FELL OFF. IMAGINE MY SHOCK, STANDING THERE HOLDING THE UNIT WITH ONE LEG, HOT, WHILE HUBBY TRIED TO REATTACH THESE LEGS. THIS TIME, BEFORE USE, WE SCREWED THE LEGS ON. TWO SIMPLE SCREWS DO THE TRICK. MAYBE WEBER WILL READ THIS REVIEW, HUH?

5 out of 5 stars Weber Grills are the best!!!   September 26, 2009

I bought this weber kettle grill to expand my cooking area since I already own the Weber Performer, I coudn't be happier with this grill and my performer, I added the work table, the lid holder and is almost as I had 2 performers, these grills are so well constructed that they will last forever if you take good care of them.
As a fanatic griller I grill my dinner almost everynight and I found myself spending a little to much in charcoal, you know, just to grill one steak and some veggies on a charcoal grill is a little waistful so I bought the Weber Q 220, also a great addition to my grilling experience.
Go for it, you will be not disappointed!
