Cobb Grill February 6, 2010 Condo Living (Riverview, FL) This grill is great for condo living! It truly does burn for hours on a few coals and is easy to clean. I wished the grill rack was standard as this is a must-have feature for smoking.
Great slow cooking grill January 4, 2010 J. Iverson (MN, USA) This is a great grill for slow cooking chicken, pork, beef & fish. Pour some marinade in the moat, put your meat and vegetables on and check after a half hour and maybe every 15 min after that. Meat comes out nice and tender, and you can taste the flavor you added to the moat.
I added vegetables to the moat wrapped in tinfoil with mixed results. Potatoes can come out undercooked since there is not that much heat down there. It usually works best to stack everything up on top. The cooker uses very little charcoal (6-8 briquettes) so it would be a great choice if the power is out for a few days and you need a way to cook food without power. I also have a gas grill which works better for hot dogs, hamburgers or steak (which cook quickly). I have cooked hamburgers with the cob, but it is a different experience. The cobb works best when slow cooking to bring out the flavor. Think of it as a charcoal crock-pot. If you love flipping burgers and putting out flame-ups, get a gas grill. If you like tender, nicely flavored meat with a minimum of fuss, this grill is for you! It is hard to wreck a meal and is fun to experiment with. It is a leisurely way to grill! The only other limitation is space. It is nice and compact, but expect to cook for 3 or 4 people, there is only so much room in the grill. This is a great grill to take camping as it is compact and requires a minimum of fuel.
It cleans up nice and easy. After cooking, pour some soap and water in the moat while there are still some warm coals. This will make cleaning easier. Then everything wipes down easy since the moat is usually where things may stick. I also liked the bag that comes with the grill, it makes it easy to store or take with you.
I made a simple charcoal starter out of an old coffee can. I drilled holes and weaved wire to make a simple grill for the charcoal. Just place the briquettes and add newspaper underneath and light. 5 to 10 minutes later, the charcoal is ready to move to the cobb. Put the briquettes in the cobb, and away you go.
In short, I love to use this grill when I have the time. If you need food on the table in 15 minutes, this is not the grill to use. If you have an hour or two for a roast or a chicken, this will create a melt-in-your-mouth feast that will wow your family or guests.
missing parts and no one wants to help November 21, 2009 W. Deming (remote Alaska) was missing the non-stick grilling surface when I got the box. I would rather buy a new part than ship evrything back and forth, from Alaska. no help from the Cobb website and the part isn't available from amazon. works well with the wok though.

Must have! August 23, 2009 K. Lafayette (Western USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased a Cobb BBQ as I am single and wanted something easily portable to take camping with my kids. First night cooked Delicious Chicken (Super Juicy) with vegetables and potatoes on bottom and chicken on grilling rack. Delicious! No real mess easy to clean up, Second night baked a home made pizza at camp and was the bomb mom! I only used 6-8 Match lite type Briquetes. Truly a must have for the galloping gourmet who loves to travel or camp, would be great for an apartment dweller as well, small footprint. I don't know why they don't have these at Cabela's or Scheel's or any sporting good stores. They are way worth the price. I did read the instructions and followed them to the "T". The unit breaks down to a small canvas or nylon carrying bag which makes it even more convenient. I would recommend this product to everyone! Would also be great for emergency back up cooking in power outage, or to take on the beach or picnic. Really easy to produce great food, and easy to carry.
