Great Grill, Outstanding fit and finish. January 11, 2010 Robert Dean (Charleston, SC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just received the S-310 and taking my time put it together in a little more than two hours. The only tools needed for assembly are a screwdriver and 7/16 wrench (I used a ratcheted box end to make things easier). I used the tried and true principle of "measure twice, cut once" and taking my time had no issues or "gremlins" to contend with. The fit and finish on this grill are outstanding. Nothing was forced or had to be pried, bent or damaged during assembly. All parts were included and clearly labeled. The instructions are brief but accurate. All in all, assembly was a pleasant experience.
My other grill is a Holland Tradition that I have had for many years. Though it has its advantages, I've grown tired of its low temperature and slow cook times. The Weber is just what the doctor ordered. It heats to 600 degrees very quickly, is remarkably quiet and configured perfectly; from the front doors to the top mounted controls. The cover that came with it must be an improved version as it does not have the vent holes others have complained about. To top it off, this grill is made in the United States by an American company. How rare is that these days? I look forward to many seasons with this grill and would highly recommend it to anyone considering purchasing a high quality grill with the intent of using it for many years to come. Well done, Weber!
Doesn't grill steaks very well December 23, 2009 T. Casey (Nevada, USA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am very disgusted with this purchase. It does not get hot enough to grill steak as you would get using charcoal.
If you want your steak with a slightly charred outside and medium rare inside, this is not the grill for you (or me...).
WOW, what a great grill November 19, 2009 W. Smetana (southcentral WI) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
WOW, what a great grill! This grill is HEAVY and I love it being stainless steel. Cooks everything evenly. The grill works great. The only 'downside'... you have to purchase a LP tank separately.
Truly an amazing grill November 10, 2009 Daniel C. Clark 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I spent 6 months doing extensive research on grills before purchasing this unit. At the time of this writing, I have cooked on it approximately 20 times.
Every design aspect of the grill has been thoroughly thought out. It creates over 600F of heat. Due to thick metals, heat is maintained when the top is opened. It can sear steaks effectively. The heat is consistent across the surface without hot or cold spots. Even the doors open and close like a solid, quality appliance. Nothing on this grill is flimsy.
I am extremely happy with this purchase.
My only complaint is that they put the control knobs on top of the right tray, eliminating valuable surface area.
I would also suggest that you buy a recent copy of "Weber Way to Grill", an OXO meat thermometer, and tongs.
A few grilling tips:
Never stab your food with a fork. You will create exit holes for the juices.
Oil food, not the grates.
Before cooking, heat your grill to over 500F for 10 minutes and thoroughly clean grill with stainless steel brush.
Hamburgers should be 3/4" thick. Never push down on them while cooking. They are ready to flip when they remove easily from the surface.
Foods should be salted, oiled, and left on the counter for 30 minutes before grilling.
Allow foods to sit between 5-10 minutes after grilling to allow juices to redistribute.
When using a meat thermometer, take the food off the grill 5-20 degrees less than your target temperature. "Carry Over" is when the outside of the food continues to cook the inside of the food after it has been removed from the heat. This additional cooking is substanial.
Worth the Extra Money October 3, 2009 Wine and Book Lover (Chicago, IL USA) I hesitated to spend this much money on a grill; however, my friend has had a Weber just like this one for a couple of years, and it looks brand new. My friend uses his grill at least 4 times a week, even in the dead of our Illinois' winters. His previous Weber gas grill, which he had had for about ten years, he gave to his daughter and son-in-law because it was still working well. Therefore, I decided to spend the extra money and get a grill that I thought would last.
So far, I am very happy with the grill. I am a 60-year-old woman and was able to assemble the grill in a little over 4 hours. I would have finished sooner, but step 2 of the directions took me a long time to figure out. However, I was patient and took it slowly, and I am glad I got it right the first time and did not have to unassemble and reassemble any parts.
Once together, I moved the grill to the deck where it looks great! I have used the grill at least twice a week and like the way it cooks. Also, the cleanup is pretty easy. I would definitely recommend spending the extra money to buy this grill and look forward to using it for many, many years.
